Grateful for the Past, Hopeful for the Future
A picturesque festival of ceramic lanterns and light takes place on the grounds of the INAX MUSEUMS and elsewhere in this historic pottery town. In the evening, visitors gather in the cool autumn air to walk among the countless shining lanterns.
In the city of Tokoname, October 10th is "To-to-To-no-Hi." Written "陶と灯の日" in kanji, it means “Ceramics and Lights Day,” and on this day several events are held throughout the city in order to celebrate the life and achievements of Chozaburo Ina, the entrepreneur who founded the INAX Company (recently renamed LIXIL). He was also the first mayor of the city of Tokoname when it became a municipality in 1954.
