This year as special event to celebrate Hekinan City's 70th year as municipality. This fireworks is hosted in alternation between Handa-City and Hekinan-City, and 2018 the host is Hekinan!

The fireworks launching is traditionally done from the strait above the Kinuura Tunnel and feature large-sized star mines that, when exploding, reflect on the calm waters of the canal in a romantic and fantastic effect. Getting as close as the sea to watch this show is highly recommended.

*: Event carries on even under light rain, but postpones to the next day in case of inclement weather.
Holding time : From 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Place : Area around Kinuura Port Chuo Pier (around Kinuura Tunnel).

Handa-City side - Reclaimed District 11 (Ju-ichi-gochi), Handa Ryokuchi Greens Park, etc.; Hekinan-City side - Hama-machi, Minato-Honmachi, etc.
Fee : Free of charge
Parking : Available, free of charge (cap. 1,700 cars). Free of charge shuttle buses will operate to and fro the East Parking Lot of Kura-no-Machi (Town of Inspiring Warehouses) near Handa Station. Temporary parking lot also available north from the Kinuura Tunnel Toll Booth - Handa City side (350m west of Handa Ryokuchi Greens Park).

    From Nagoya Station, take either JR or Meitetsu trains bound for Handa, Chita-Handa or Hekinan stations:
    •Handa (JR Taketoyo Line) or Chita-Handa (Meitetsu Kowa Line) stations: walk eastwards (7min from Handa Station; 15min from Chita-Handa Station) to the large parking lot east to Kura-no-Machi (Town of Inspiring Warehouses - must cross to the east side of the canal) and take the free shuttle bus.
    •Hekinan Station (Meitetsu Mikawa Line): up to 30min westwards walk, depending on the desired spot - i.e., 30min (2.2km) to the Hekinan Ryokuchi Greens Park (above the Kinuura Tunnel).

    From Handa I.C. of the Chita-Hanto Expressway:
    •To the East Parking Lot of Kura-no-Machi (Town of Inspiring Warehouses) (east from Mizkan Musem across the canal): 15min (4km) northeastwards via routes 34 and 262. Take the free shuttle bus.
    •To the Temporary Parking Lot north to Kinuura Tunnel's Handa-side Toll Booth (350m west of Handa Ryokuchi Greens Park): 12min (6km) eastwards via routes 34, 52 and 265. Turn left immediately before the toll booth, park and walk to the desired spot.
