For three days in early August the downtown area around JR Anjo Station thrives with Anjo-City's Star Festival. Music and dance stage performances, a marching parade by preschool to high school age local children, events with local idols and characters and lots more are carried out over three days. The place is crowded with over a million visitors from the surrounding regions during the festival.

The concept of this year's Anjo Tanabata Star Festival is "One for All."

The festival aims to be the county's number one: the most "tanzaku" votive paper strips, the longest street with bamboo decorations, and the largest number of star festival events. The official character KIIBOU is a wish fairy. Come and hang your own "tanzaku" in Anjo!

Full of places to see - one day may not be enough to see it all!

Numerous events are held during the festival at the Negaigoto Hiroba (Wish Square) Main Stage and other venues here and there. Other things to see include parades, dance events, "Obon-Odori" dances: it's so difficult to choose which ones to join!

Anjo Tanabata Goodwill Ambassadors enhance the festival

Anjo Tanabata “Star” Festival

Five Anjo Tanabata Goodwill Ambassadresses are selected in an audition to liven up the various events during the three days of the festival. Look forward to seeing these charming ladies dressed in traditional Japanese clothing!
