Toyohashi-City Ee-Janaika Toyohashi Festival
(Ee-Janaika Toyohashi Matsuri)
Date : 10/15/2022, 10/16/2022
Once called simply "Toyohashi Festival," this event changed its name to (ええじゃないか豊橋まつり Ee-Janaika Toyohashi Matsuri), which literally means something like "Isn't It Great? Toyohashi Festival." However, the term "Ee-Janaika" has a contextual meaning of "Festive Carnival-like Religious Celebration" in Japan. And that’s exactly what it is: throughout multiple venues around the city, the populace engages in dances both traditional and modern, with ceremonial garments that make for a great sight. Another event is the "Pareka," a term born out of mixing the words "parade" and "carnival." The So-Odori, when everybody starts to dance, is another high point of the event.
