Hand held fireworks, or "tezutsu hanabi", are bamboo tubes stuffed with gunpowder and carried under the arm as they send showers of sparks raining down on the people. Feel the power and energy of the hand held fireworks accompanied by soul-stirring Japanese drumming at the Fire Festival in Toyohashi, the home of hand held fireworks. Great pillars of fire that can't be seen on such magnificent a scale elsewhere are blown 20 meters up into the air from 25 hand held fireworks.
Handicraft workshops will teach kids to make small tezutsu - without gunpowder, of course - so they make a cute souvenir. Activities using AR (augmented reality) apps and gourmet merchants with tasty food complete the experience.
