Monkey Around at the Japan Monkey Centre

The name Inuyama, and ancient castle town in the north of Aichi Prefecture translates to “Dog Mountain”. However, you’re more likely to see monkeys than dogs at Inuyama.

Japan Monkey Centre

The city’s surrounding beautiful rolling hills, lush green forests and the wide Kiso River, is the location for the Japan Monkey Centre, 43,600 square meters of museum, zoological garden and home for about 900 individuals of over 60 different types of primates from all over the world.
Japan Monkey Centre allows you to learn about the primates and their lifestyles before going to see the residents themselves. The Money Centre features chimps, gorillas, gibbons, monkeys, mandrills, apes and simians from Asia, Africa and South America. The kids will feel at home in the KIDSZOO, and if you time your trip right, they’ll be able to enjoy watching feeding time!
