The Owaki-no-Hashigo Jishi event, which can be translated as "Owaki Lion's Ladder Festival", figures among a rare category of Japanese ritualistic festivals, and features young shrine parishioners dressed as dragon (the "Lion") and dancing atop a scaffold-like structure called Yagura, about twelve meters from the ground. The acrobatic choreography has breathtaking moments and is an exhilarating experience. This legendary festival boasts an history of over 400 years and is yet another unmissable event in Aichi.
Appointed as Intangible Folk Culture Heritage of Aichi Prefecture.
