Toyota-City Yotterassai, Miterassai - Come and See! Festival

Date : 10/27/2018, 10/28/2018

  • Yotterassai, Miterassai - Come and See! Festival

A Jumbo-Sized "Gohei-Mochi" of 20 Meters!

The Autumn Festival of Karen-no-Sato Shimoyama, a rather bucolic district of Toyota-City, famous for its enormous "Gohei-Mochi" (grilled rice cake on a stick) measuring an astounding 20 meters and capable of feeding 1,700 people! Also, handicraft activities with wood and other craft, stage shows of traditional taste and much more!

"Yotterassai, Miterassai" is a play on the words "Yotterasshai, Miterasshai," which mean something like "Come and See," but using the word "sai" (festival) at the end of the phrase. And you must really go and see to believe the big "gohei-mochi" the townsfolk prepare for this celebration! The idea is "have fun and fill your belly"! After eating the incredible preparation, have fun at the hands-on experiences like wooden handicraft, making soba noodles, silvery accessories or potpourris using flowers harvested locally!

Shop for the local produce such as vegetables and flowers, or even the famous "Kuru-Kuru" sausage and the curious boar croquette! This is a nice place for kids too, as the little ones will have plenty of interesting things to enjoy such as stage shows with cute characters, the fire brigade brass band and more!
