Fireworks have been cancelled for the 2022 Miyoshi Ojochin Giant Lantern Festival.
Dynamic Fireworks and "Ojochin" Giant Lanterns!
Three giant lanterns 11 meters high and 6.5 meters in diameter make a spectacular appearance at the Giant Lantern Festival, held at the end of August every year. In the Hon-Matsuri (the main festival), performances of hayashi (festival music) and bo-no-te ("Hand of Pole" or "Hand of Stick," a dance based on Japanese martial arts drills) are offered to the gods starting from the morning. During the two days of the festival, over 100 street stalls attract huge crowds. The festival's finale is fireworks that light up the night sky with color.
