Toyota-City Obara Kabuki Performance

Date : 06/19/2022

  • Obara Kabuki Performance

The 2022 Obara Kabuki Performance previously scheduled for May has been postponed to June 19 (Sunday).

The Obara Kabuki tradition began during the Edo Period as a ritualistic offering ceremonial for the shrine, and as time passes, spread around the neighboring communities as a form of entertainment and talent outlet for the townsfolk. To this day, it is still passed down the generations by the members of the Obara Kabuki Preservation Society, which holds the "The Obara-za" performance events twice a year in mid-autumn and late spring at the Obara Koryukan Community Hall.

*: Performances divided in a number of sessions during the day.
*: Venue not equipped with food facilities or vending machines, guests are kindly advised to bring food and beverages as needed, accordingly.
