Handa-City Gon's Autumn Festival (Gon-no-Aki Matsuri) and Red Spider Lily Fields of the Yakachigawa River Banks (Yakachigawa Higanbana)
Date : 09/20/2022 - 10/04/2022
Come see the vast red spider lily fields (called "higanbana" in Japan) that start to bloom this season and paint the embankments along the Yakachigawa River with vivid and beautiful ruby tones! Handa was the birthplace of Nankichi Niimi, the famous author of "Gon, the Little Fox" (Gongitsune), a children’s story massively known in the country. And the higanbana celebration borrows its name from the little fox. The festival has countless events schedule during its period, including an exotic parade of brides along the flowery embankments. Besides that, Handa is also home to the MIZKAN Sake & Vinegar Museum and the massive transportation water canal at "Kura-no-Machi," and also the "Akarenga" Red Brick Building, which will both be holding special events during Gon's Autumn Festival.
