Nagashino Battle Flag Festival

Nagashino Battle Flag Festival is a festival to console the spirits of the warriors on both sides who died at the Battle of Nagashino, which took place near what are now the ruins of Nagashino Castle. Thousands of flags bearing crests from both armies are raised during the festival, so it is also called “Nobori Matsuri”, or “Flag Festival”. In addition to religious ceremonies and memorial services, there are many other things to see, including matchlock musket demonstrations, Nagashino Jindaiko drum performances and Iai swordsmanship. Members of the general public can take part in the Gassen Gyoretsu parade, in which participants wear kimonos and armor and march for about 1 km.
