Toyota-City [Events Partially Cancelled]
Wisteria Festival of Fujioka
(Fuji Matsuri)

Date : 04/24/2021 - 05/09/2021

  • Wisteria Festival of Fujioka (Fuji Matsuri)
  • Wisteria Festival of Fujioka (Fuji Matsuri)

Special events, stage performances, etc. have been cancelled.
Strolling down Wisteria Alley is still possible.

This festival celebrates the beautiful wisterias of Mitsukuri-Town in the City of Toyota, held during the Golden Week holidays when the blossoms are at their peak. Along with the magnificent display of flowers, visitors can also take in demonstrations of Bo-no-Te ("Hand-on-Pole") martial arts, shop for local crafts and produce, or enjoy a musical concert held in the adjacent festival areas. Walk the sublime "Wisteria Alley" (Fuji-no-Kairo), a 370-meter walkway of wisteria-laden pergolas, to experience the brilliance of four different varieties of wisterias.
This spot is located in the Fujioka Area, which until 2005 was called Fujioka-Town (Fujioka-cho) and formed the Nishi-Kamo County (Nishi-Kamo-gun) along with Obara-Village (Obara-mura, the current Obara Area). Literally, "Fujioka" means "Wisteria Hills," a fact that adds to the charm of this place.
