"Hai yo!" yell the young men as they sprint aside galloping steeds

The Omanto Festival is a traditional one where horses dressed up with bells and other decorations gallop around shrine precincts with young men screaming out "hai yo!" as they grab on and sprint alongside them. The festival is held at different locations around the town of Higashiura, but the Morioka area's festival at Muraki Jinja Shrine has more horses, which are dressed up with decorations designated by the town as cultural properties.
