A whole town colored gold with the autumn leaves of ginkgo trees

The town of Sobue-cho in the city of Inazawa has over 10,000 trees of gingko biloba, the "icho" tree. Come Autumn, when everyone is talking about the red maple trees, this place is kind of refreshing due to the yellowish tones. The Yusenji Temple is center of the festival celebrating the golden trees, with events also at the nearby Yamazaki Station (of the Meitetsu Bisai Line). Find trees with over 200 years of age, as well as tree branch tunnels and, at night, be amazed by the artificially illuminated spots!

Inazawa Ginkgo Yellow Leaves Festival

In Inazawa City's Sobue-cho, when late fall comes (late November to early December), more than 10,000 ginkgo trees color the whole town gold and create a spectacular scene. Particularly worth seeing are, for example, the tunnels created by avenues of ginkgo trees around Yusenji Temple, Meitetsu Yamazaki Station and other event venues. Some of these are more than 200 years old, and some are the source of Kyuji ginkgo.
