Hina dolls and strung ornaments decorate sightseeing spots around Handa Canal and its Kuranomachi area, full of warehouses constructed in traditional Japanese architectural design, during the Peach Festival.
The Peach festival is also as the "Hina Festival" or "Doll Festival" and celebrates girls and young women as well as the arrival of spring with displays of ornate hina dolls dressed in spectacular court life dress. During Handa City's Peach Festival, young kimono-clad women make a pilgrimage to the local Shinto shrine.
